Outdoor Education Teambuilding Youth and Family Leadership Training

Youth and Family

The Northern Lakes Impact Center is committed to providing programs that improve the lives of youth and families throughout the Midwest.  Our goal is to have a positive impact that can provide long-term success to the people we serve.  We are currently developing our youth and family outreach programs and will have more information soon.

At-Risk Family Weekends

One of the greatest challenges facing the world today is the disintegration of the family unit.  With all of the pressures on families from the outside, it may be surprising to people to learn that the greatest stresses come from inside.  Based on observations from over 20 years of Teambuilding leadership, our staff have realized that the same problems that confront the business world also directly apply to families.

To help families succeed, we are leading "At-Risk Family" programs at our host camps across the Midwest.  The goal of these programs is to create a positive environment, encourage open and honest sharing and to improve basic communication skills.  Families learn practical, hands-on approaches to dealing with conflict and to set goals that benefit all family members.

These programs are led by experienced Facilitators in conjunction with area Counselors to provide a safe, professional, interactive environment.

Life Skills

Is your organization looking for a way to have a life-changing impact on people?  Then you need to take a look at Life Skills!  Life Skills is a program that will improve the character and decision-making abilities of those who attend.  It will positively change your marriage, parental or work relationships while giving you the understanding of why you behave the way you do.

While Life Skills has been used successfully with clients dealing with a wide range of issues and who come from different socio-economic backgrounds, one of its true successes came when Life Skills was brought to a prison in College Station, Texas.  Over 600 inmates successfully completed the program.  At the end of three years, the recidivism rate for those who completed the program was one person out of 600.  In other words, one prisoner who completed the program reoffended - this compared to the normal recidivism rate of 80%!

Since that time, Life Skills has been adapted to work with a number of needs; from dealing with addiction and anger issues to reducing juvenile delinquency and lowering divorce.  This program has also been used by corporations to improve on-the-job performance of workers and executives by helping them deal with issues at home in a positive, constructive manner.

If one of your organizational goals is to “Change Lives” then contact Mike Jewell at mike@northenlakesimpact.org or call him at (715) 499-1320 to see how a partnership with Life Skills may benefit your organization.
